01Cookies and similar technologies

A cookie is a small file a website saves in your browser. Sites can also use local and session storage, pixels and, in phone apps, software kits that do similar jobs. This policy covers all of them, and says which ones eBazoo uses.

It applies to ebazoo.com, the eBazoo Help Center (help.ebazoo.com), the eBazoo Changelog (changelog.ebazoo.com), our Shopify apps and the mobile apps that merchants build with Mobile App Builder. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data generally.

02On ebazoo.com

ebazoo.com sets no cookies of its own unless you accept Analytics. It has no advertising or social media pixels, and no chat widget that follows you around.

• Google Analytics, only with your consent. If you accept Analytics in our cookie notice, we use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages are visited and how people find us. It sets the cookies _ga and _ga_<id>, and Google receives the pages you view, the site that sent you, your approximate location, and your device and browser. We don’t send Google your name or email address, and its advertising features stay off (Google Consent Mode). If you reject Analytics, or don’t answer, Google Analytics doesn’t load at all.
• Visit counts. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It counts page views without cookies and without storing anything on your device. It sees the page, the site that sent you, your country and your type of device, and it doesn’t identify you. Because nothing is stored on your device, it doesn’t need your consent.
• Moving between pages. When you follow a link to another page of our site, a short ink transition covers the page. To finish it on the next page, the site writes one value (ebz-wipe) in your browser’s session storage and deletes it as soon as the next page loads. It’s never sent to us. With reduced motion turned on, there’s no transition and nothing is written.
• Security. Cloudflare delivers our site and protects it from attacks. When it needs to tell people from automated traffic, or after a security check, Cloudflare may set a short-lived, strictly necessary cookie such as __cf_bm or cf_clearance. It’s used only for that purpose.

04On the Help Center and the Changelog

The Help Center and the Changelog work like ebazoo.com: they set no cookies of their own unless you accept Analytics in their cookie notice, and then use Google Analytics as described above. Each site asks once and remembers your answer. The Help Center’s search runs in your browser on a list of published guides, so what you type isn’t sent to us.

05In our Shopify apps

• Inside Shopify admin. Mobile App Builder, Pick List, Pickup Label and SEO 404 Redirect sign you in with Shopify’s session tokens, not cookies. Shopify’s own cookies in Shopify admin are covered by Shopify’s policies.
• On your storefront. SEO 404 Redirect’s tracker reports addresses that weren’t found. It sets no cookies and stores no IP addresses.

06In mobile apps built with Mobile App Builder

Apps built with Mobile App Builder don’t use cookies. On the shopper’s phone, our part of the app keeps only what it needs to work, such as the shopper’s wishlist and their analytics choice.

• Usage analytics stay off until the shopper agrees, and use a random identifier, never a name or email address.
• Push notifications need the shopper’s permission on their phone.
• Checkout is Shopify’s own checkout, where Shopify’s policies apply.

If you, as the merchant, add other tracking tools to your app, they must wait for the same consent. Your app’s own privacy policy tells your shoppers what you use.

07Optional cookies and your choice

Our only optional service today is Google Analytics, under Analytics. For it, and for anything we add later, such as advertising measurement under Marketing:

• we list it here and on our sub-processors page first;
• a notice asks you, and Reject all is as easy as Accept all, or you can choose by category;
• nothing optional loads until you click Accept all, or Save choices with that category ticked;
• “Cookie settings” in the footer lets you change your mind at any time. If you withdraw your consent, we delete those cookies and reload the page.

08Other companies’ sites

Our pages link to other companies’ sites, such as Shopify, the App Store, Google Play and the apps our apps work with. When you follow a link, their cookie policies apply.

09How to control cookies

Your browser lets you see, block and delete cookies and site storage, usually under Settings → Privacy. Blocking cookies on our sites doesn’t break anything, because nothing depends on them; Google Analytics then simply can’t count your visit. If Cloudflare can’t set its security cookie, you may see an extra check now and then.

10Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change adds an optional service, we ask for your consent before it runs.
